What is Anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of allergic reaction. The most common anaphylactic reactions are to foods, insect stings and medications. Anaphylaxis can be life threatening and all reactions should be treated as a medical emergency requiring urgent medical attention.
Anaphylaxis occurs after exposure to a particular allergen that the body overreacts to, releasing chemicals that cause allergy symptoms. These chemicals normally set more than one body system (skin, respiratory, gastro-intestinal and cardiovascular) into action.
Common food triggers that cause anaphylaxis include:
- Milk
- Eggs
- Peanuts
- Tree nuts
- Fish
- Wheat
- Soy
All Orgran products are free from the above common food allergens.
